The Artist's Process- What is a "Thinking drawing?" - A thinking drawing is many sketches to work out an idea.
- How does Thiebaud use "thinking drawings" to create his final compositions? - He uses this to help him find interesting and dynamic composition. - In what ways do Thiebaud’s preparatory sketches relate to his final composition? In the sketches and in his final composition is they both have heavy shadows. - Looking at the artwork, Rows of Ties, how is the tie hanging on the right different from the other ties? Why do you think Thiebaud separates it? The tie on the right is probably separated because all of the other ties are just straight lines and circles, and that tie has curvy lines. I think he put that tie by itself is because it helps make the painting bigger and there's more to look at.
