Today we viewed paintings by two different Artists and found what made them similar and what made both of the paintings different from one another. The painting I chose to look at is ¨The Water-Lily Pond¨ painted by a Claude Monet, a well known French artist from the 1800's to early 1900's. After Claude Monet's passing, there have been other artists who would attempt to paint his piece, the artist I chose to compare to the original is ¨Show me the Monet¨ painted by Banksy. ¨The Water-Lily Pond¨ Claude Monet ¨Show me the Monet¨ Banksy Do you recognize both of the artists/artworks? How famous are the artists/artworks? I do recognize Claude Monet's artwork and he is a famous artists.
How similar are the artworks? Was the second artist COPYING or INSPIRED BY the first artist? Why do you think that? Both of the artworks are very similar there are a few things that are different from each other, an example the, the shopping carts in the pond. I don't think that the second artist was necessarily copying the first artist, more or less inspired by him because he kind of modernized and put his perspective in and his time in life in. Using Austin Kleon's chart, is the second artwork an example of GOOD or BAD theft? Explain. I think that the second artwork is good theft because he did credit the original artists in the title and he did transform it into his own style. Today we did a Newspaper Blackout challenge where you take a piece of newspaper or a page out of a book, choose a few words and black out the rest. I took my paper out of a book called ¨The Hunger Games¨ by Suzanne Collins. After I chose a few words blacked out the rest of the page I got a quote saying...
¨Good moods should direct you to be unforgettable, but no one will make you likeable.¨ On class we have been focusing on making the colors we need ourselves so that we have an understanding of how to make our own colors. We needed to be able stretch ourselves in the way we perceive colors colors. When some people see the color green they just think, ¨Oh, we just need blue and yellow.¨ Yes but, what about if you needed a lime green, you would maybe need to add some white and some yellow to create the color needed. You need to be able to develop new techniques so you are able to get the needed. Where i am at as an artist is i am able to come up with different ideas. I hope to learn different ways to create art. Being able to understand what people think of my art or how I think they will depict my art. I am able to come up with different concepts for art but need to be able to learn different pieces of making art. I need to be able to create different colors and different shades of colors.
